WHY E18?
E:18 stands for Exodus 18, where an interesting story occurs. Moses was attempting to fulfill an impossible task - lead 2 million people out of bondage and into the Promised Land. Moses was Israel's Pastor, ministering to the people, caring for their needs and trying to keep the people unified and on mission. He was doing his best, yet it was too much for anyone man. Enter his father-in-law Jethro, who observed Moses' effort and the ineffectiveness of his ministry. He saw Moses' love for God, his love for the people, and his passion to fulfill God's calling. Yet Moses could not see the futility of his effort and his need to do something different.
Jethro was the first church/pastoral consultant. He was a fresh set of eyes on this situation and he had a practical solution for Moses, not just criticism or some ideas or theories. Fortunately, Moses humbly took Jethro's advice and did what he suggested. Moses was effective in his leadership and the people moved forward by faith to their goal of reaching God's promises. Many pastors today are in the same position as Moses. They love God, have been called, desire to shepherd their people, yet the heavyweight of ministry has blinded them to what is needed to maximize their impact. They need someone to provide an honest assessment, scriptural evaluation, and tested answers that will lead to fruitful results. Every pastor needs a "JETHRO" to come alongside them and provide SOLUTIONS!
